Gaga over Yaya

For my next product review, I'm going to be reviewing selected products sold by Yaya Han ( http://Yayahan.bigcartel.com). If you aren't familiar with Yaya Han, she's a very talented and accomplished cosplayer whom I have looked up to for many years. She has quite the portfolio and her cosplaying skills are breathtaking! Aside from her cosplay, she also has an online shop where she sells a variety of things such as costume decor, calenders, t-shirts and now Worbla (a material that can be used for cosplay).  I've been lucky enough to help sell some of her costume decor at booths for various conventions, and this is where I realized that many people who were familiar with her products, weren't sure what they were made from or even how to wear them! So, I will be reviewing four of her products: the ears, horns, wings and the graphic t-shirt!

First, I'll go over my favorite product of hers, the ears and horns. Yaya sells a variety of ears such as cat, fox, pony, and three sizes of elf. The cat ears are short and round while the fox ears are taller and more narrow- both with feathers resembling fur glued to the insides.

The pony ears are the same as the fox ears just without the fur, and are most popular when using to cosplay characters from My Little Pony (as shown below)!

While all the ears are made of a hard, durable plastic, the animal ears are wearable by a one size fits-all elastic band (as shown in the picture above), while the elf ears are attached to a headband. When I say "hard, durable plastic" I really mean it! I've bought a pair of pony ears for my Pinkie Pie cosplay, and for the sake of this product review I've dropped them, stepped on them and even threw them onto the pavement! I was shocked to not find a single scratch or chip! The color itself is in the plastic, so you don't have to worry about any color chipping or rubbing off (the cat, fox, and pony ears come in a huge variety of colors)! The cat and fox ears have the option of being embellished with flowers, ribbons and/or beads as well! The prices are either $15.99 or $20.99 depending on whether or not you want embellished or plain.

The horns that are available for purchase are made from the same material as the ears. Unicorn horns (as shown in the picture above) can be purchased with matching ears as a set! Other horns include small (the picture below) or large "fantasy" horns which resembles demon-like horns. Super cool looking!

Next, I will be going over the wings! Yaya offers several different types of wings: Angel, Demon, Steampunk, Futuristic Fantasy Changling, and even a split Angel and Demon set! There is such a wide variety of styles and colors, there will be no way to cover them all in this review! However, for this review I used the Angel wings so graciously given to me (and they are in my favorite colors)! I've sat down and thought hard about how exactly to describe these wonderful wings, and decided to take an excerpt right from Yaya's website, "...lightweight and flexible industrial foam. The small but expressive multi- layered wings are hand crafted and fully 3-dimensional, with the layers of feathers on both sides of each wing. They are suited for guys and girls and are resistant to bumping into people, objects and walls, making them perfect for EGL, Cosplay, Conventions, Parties and Clubbing". This pretty much sums it up! As shown in the picture below, the wings are put on and worn like a backpack! They have a really sturdy harness in the back and the elastic straps make them super comfortable!

The harness is also bendable, so you can bend the wings outward or lower/raise them to how you see fit. Since these are made of an industrial foam, any dents made will eventually fade back to normal. I dug my nails into these wings, and noticed that the dent slowly disappears or "puffs back" to it's original state.

Here is a photo from Holiday Matsuri 2012 of two customers wearing bat wings, aren't they precious? You can see the variety of wings being sold in the background!

Last but not least is the Yayahan.com T-shirt. I love this T-shirt. The minute I put this T-shirt on, I didn't want to take it off. It's the softest, most form fitting T-shirt I own and the artwork is very cool! Most of the form fitting T-shirts I own I can't wear all day, but this one I definitely can. It's made from 95% Cotton and 5% Spandex, and the screen printing is so soft, it almost feels non existent! Softer screen printing means less cracking and less worry of washing it. I usually wear an extra small in T-shirts (since they usually run big), but I actually wear a small when it comes to Yaya's shirts. The shirt sells for $19.99 and it's completely worth it! Whether you choose to cruise around the convention halls or use it to sleep in, you won't be disappointed!

Well, that's it for this Product Review! Sorry that's it a mile long, but the website is full of amazing and fun products! Make sure you check out Yaya Han's shop here: http://yayahan.bigcartel.com/
Also, make sure you drop by her cosplay site to look at her pretty costumes: http://www.yayahan.com/

Quirky Qwertee

For my first product review, I will be posting the shirt I ordered from Qwertee.com! Each day, Qwertee posts one new T-shirt design mostly relating to nerd-culture for only $12.00! After 24-hours, that specific T-shirt design will go to the "Last Chance Tee" page, where you will have another 24-hours to buy it for the higher price of $14.00. However, after the shirt expires from the "Last Chance Tee" page, you won't be able to have a chance to get that print ever again (unless there is a special promotion, but they usually result in blind bags)!

I've been watching Qwertee almost everyday for a design that I couldn't live without, and finally stumbled upon one! It was the "Dark Moon Rises" Sailor moon Tee. I loved the design so much, I ordered it right away! They accept credit, debit, or paypal. With my experience, any site that accepts paypal is usually a good one (and it's safe knowing that paypal will back you up if you ever get screwed over by an online seller). I selected my size- women's small (they do NOT have an Extra Small option) and selected the shipping method of $5.95 (Standard Delivery). They also had the option of Guaranteed Delivery for $7.50, which is insured against loss. I must admit, when I clicked on the Standard Delivery option, I was a bit worried for it stated, "Shipping time: 5-30 Working days after dispatch". 30 WORKING DAYS?! I went ahead with the order, expecting not to see it for a very, very long time.

Boy, was I wrong! I received the shirt in a week and a half! Pretty fast considering I live in Orlando, Florida and it shipped from Ireland! It was shipped in a soft shipping envelope and came with a bag of Haribo gummies (which I had for dessert after my dinner that night)! I immediately looked at the shirt and the print was exactly how it was shown on the site. The ink of the screenprinting is thick not soft, but that's quite common in most graphic printed tees. It's also quite bold, so don't worry about receiving a cruddy print transfer here! It's 100% cotton and has been pre-shrunk. I didn't try it on right away, but waited until the anime convention where I was volunteering to do so.

When I finally put it on to wear, the first thing I noticed was that the neck hole was small. It IS displayed as so on the site, but I didn't notice that it was a high-neck tee until I tried it on. It didn't take away my love for the shirt, I'm just not use to wearing high-neck tees (my boyfriend commented that it would look cuter as a v-neck, but I like it the way it is). Another thing I noticed about the shirt was that it was loose around the chest and waist but hugged my hips. To give you an idea, my measurements are 32( 34B if wearing a bra), 26 waist, 34 hips, and I'm 5'3. You can maybe notice how it hugs the hips in the picture below.

Overall, I would give this shirt and Qwertee.com  a 90% satisfaction rating! They shipped quickly, the quality of the shirt is great, and I recieved seven comments (both in and out of the convention) within one day! It's unique, fun and of course, Sailor Moon!

Check out Qwertee.com here! http://www.qwertee.com/ Also if you sign up, you can vote for your favorite prints in hopes it will become a future Tee! I've already voted for several prints (mostly Monkey Island related)!

P.S. With any graphic-printed shirt, make sure you turn it inside out before washing to protect the print!
